Greeting from the Chief Director
-Educating those who disseminate the beauty of Japan and the Japanese-
Renaissance Academy was founded 11 years ago, and from this spring, we added a new educational philosophy, “Educating those who disseminate the beauty of Japan and the Japanese from Hamamatsu to the world” to the existing educational philosophies. To realize this, we offer a two-department educational system, the “General Design Department” and the “Animal Related Department.”
Each field is a representative theme of this century. We support “Manufacturing Country. Hamamatsu, High Flyer of Japan” with professional services, and we expect professionals in the service industry to create future industry businesses.
At the end of February, the construction of a seven-story building dedicated to the Animal Related Department started in addition to the refurbishment of the General Design Department building, and when construction is completed, we will have created the perfect environment for “human resource development for those who are respected in reality and in name” in the center of Hamamatsu.
We fully utilize our abilities to fulfill our public duty and responsibilities as an institution authorized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Shizuoka Prefecture, and maximally employ our flexibility and problem-solving abilities as a private educational institution. We will continue striving to be an educational and training institution that can quickly respond to the demands of related industries.

Educating Professionals for the Professional Service Industry Who Can Be Responsible for “Greeting and Cleaning”
In addition to being a member of the G7, Japan is one of the richest countries in the world. Our society is very matured, therefore, well-educated and talented human resources are required for the design and pet care industries. Obtaining a vocational school diploma proves that you have acquired requisite practical techniques, and we continue everyday training with the premise and basics of “recognition of the importance of greeting and cleaning.”
About Hamamatsu
Hamamatsu City, with a climate second to none of any other city in Japan, is located between Tokyo and Kyoto. Many international manufacturing corporations in the automobile, musical instrument, textile, and optical industries are based in this city. Hamamatsu is also famous for agriculture, forestry and fishery industries, and will become one of the government-designated cities in July 2007. The city is adequately urbanized. The people of Hamamatsu are open-minded and kind. It is the best city in which to live, learn and work. Career opportunities in design and pet care after graduation are increasing in Hamamatsu, and it is an ideal city for local employment.
Purpose of Establishment
Renaissance Academy was founded in April 1995 in honor of 100th anniversary of Kanjiro Nakano (pictured on the right), father of the current chief director.
The academy began as “Nakano Shoten” founded in 1926 as a bicycle shop. Nakano Shoten expanded its businesses from bicycles to motor cycle sales, auto-tricycle and taxi business, and automobile sales and repair business along with the development of Japanese motorization trends. Nakano owned and managed Hamamatsu Daihatsu with 9 sales offices in the west region of Shizuoka, and sales of over 6000 cars a year. Reading the trends of the changing times, Nakano decided to change the business in 1990.
Coincidentally, Nakano had already started R Seminar (a prep school for children ranging from elementary to mid-high school students), and used its successful experience to establish a cultural and humane educational institution, Renaissance Academy, in Hamamatsu. We are concentrating all our efforts on “Creating professionals for the 21st century” to energize Hamamatsu City and lead it to its successful establishment as a government-designated city.
